PAKISTAN FIRST: No doubt President Pervez Mushraf was par-excellent while comparing with our poltiicians. The performance of politicians is quite evident during the regime of President Mushraf also. He was running the country very excellently in his first three years of tenure. Then he was compelled under Supreme Court Judgment to hold the election as a result of which he first offered Makhdoum Amin Fahim of PPP to form the government, but BB did not allow him. Thereafter he offered MPL(Q) that got full support and comforts from the President during the whole period of government, but even the performance of politicians of this ruling party was not very promising and could not build up a good image due to many scandals and in capabilities. They could not deliver to the people as they could do despite having good economy and support. Consequently, they lost the election held in Feb-2008 culminating to the resignation of President Musharaf. The economy was in its full swing and its benefits were supposed to trickled down to the poor during this current five years, but unfortunately the political scenario changed as a result of Feb-2008 election when opponent political forces come into power. On the other hands, the politicians of other parties who were outside the then government could not do anything for the nation and poor except banging the desks, launching train march, long marches and creating law and order situation in the country to topple the government throughout the period of last regime. Now after election Feb-2008, we can easily surmise the performance of our politicians who were trying to come into power in one way or the other. The performance of our politicians who are included in the coalition for running the government is also crystal clear. They are still trying to consolidate the government and their whole attention was concentrated on three issues i.e. President Mushraf removal, restoration of judiciary and strengthening the government. However, first target i.e. removal of President Mushraf they achieved, which was a common agenda of PPP and PML(N) partnership. Thereafter, they divorced each other, which was sure from the beginning due to Nawaz adamant behavior and due to deceptive attitude of Zardari and constant breach of commitments and contracts. With regard to the restoration of judiciary, many contracts were signed between these two parties, but they could not do so. Let me say if politicians (especially both Nawaz and Zardari) are breaching the commitments and signed contracts, this is a democracy and is in the best interest of Pakistan and nation and if President Mushraf delayed his decision to shed off his uniform, it is condemnable. Currently all politicians and their respective parties are struggling to get maximum advantages and leverage for their ulterior motives and none of them is giving any importance to the problems of common man for which they got the votes. During the period of Presient Mushraf governance, the law and order situation was not so bad as it is today since it was confined to Waziristan and Sawat etc, but now it has been spread all over the country. The plight of economy is no more secret and going worst with the passage of time. Sooner or later we are once again going to be declared a fail, rogue and bankrupt state due to our politicians’ performance. Before, they were blaming easily to President Mushraf for conspiracy for the instability of democracy as well as political government. He was seemed to be a hurdle in their performance, but within a week's time of his departure, a major coalition partner has been separated after achieving a common goal. Despite all these immaturity of our politicians, their blame games, their insincerity and lack of commitment to resolve the problems of common men as well as their overall current performance and past performance during their earlier regimes, still it is said by our so called scholars that politicians are better than President Musharaf. Pakistani nation never heard the wake up call. In fact, it seems that there is no government in Pakistan. Only it is established due to mercy of Allah. With the passage of time it will prove again that our politicians are business men and they cannot do anything for the nation and country except making money, accumulating wealth and getting high status of living within the country and abroad in the name of democracy by the elite, for the elite, which will be transferred in future to their sons, daughters, wives because they have born to rule this nation. If the nation want to get rid of this vicious circle and from the clamp of these vultures, we as a nation should break all the shackles by concentrating and spending all our energy on high and quality education on war footing basis since literacy is a prime requisite of democracy or for running any system. We should also struggle to get rid of different influences i.e. feudal, bradri, tribal etc. and we MUST, MUST, MUST cast our votes keeping in mind PAKISTAN FIRST, which should be highly important to us feeling great esteem and honor on it . Other than this, everything should be irrelevant. For each and everything we ourselves and our politicians give the example of India, but we never refer their patriotism and their esteem for INDIA FIRST. Still there is time, if as a nation we did not steer the ship in right direction, it will definitely sink down, then PAKISTAN KA KHUDA HAFIZ.

Your comments are thought provoking, but alas I too consider you are being somewhat of an idealist. There are hard realities of which we need to take due consideration. The greatest of which is the movement since last March has spread only due to one cause- personal greed of the many thousands involved. The bribe and rishwat culture of the country perpetuates inept and corrupt practices, of which the lawyers movement is a great example. The lawyers themselves are corrupt to the core, starting of with aitezaz and down the line it continues with bribes being taken from the indians, CIA, and of course Nawas Sharif! Secondly, you mention the econmoics of Shaukat Aziz, again, there are two factors to consider. 1) There is a global issue with respect to food shortages and inflation- it is not a phenomenem restricted to Pakistan. 2) And most importantly, where you have a nation, as in Pakistan, there is widepsread agitation and unrest against the leadership- there will be an immediate impact on the economy, what you say of economic policies take time to filter is true in normal circumstances, but they speed up when the media and the so called politicians are adamant to defame their own country. This leads me to your unjustified statement on the President that he is corrupt! Here is a true statesman, he has not done anything or made statements to directly harm Pakistan, in contrast you have the disgraceful politicians and media men who do deride Pakistan as routine! There is no comparison. You also mention he chose corrupt politicians around him, did he have much choice- in my view he should not have toyed with democracy at all, but he did, and there was a lack of sincere politicians to choose from. Face reality, this is not the west, it requires a sincere honest hard working leader like Musharraf, perhaps one that exercise a little more authority! Your comments are only putting down the one man who has worked hard for the country rather than himself.

We have to go for a change. In today’s world “Politics & Economics” are interlinked. British democratic system has not given anything to the common man, neither any form of dictatorship. Same feudals have moved in both systems. The new Chinese Model starts from 1984 where China developed everything related to the economy of the country. There has been a strong partnership between Defense Forces, who built infrastructure and civil society who has built economy while the other functions run smoothly because of stable government in the center. There is decentralization in governance at small town level. We can reform current system of Nazims. But we need to follow the model which; in recent history of 23 years has made China a great Economic Powerhouse; not only domestically but worldwide. If we as a nation do not take concrete steps we will never succeed:

To curb feudalism, we have to do land reforms and make more provinces like Nehru did in India. Unless we have lands reformed, the middle and lower class ( the real people) will not arise and we will remain like this from generations to generations!

Nation Of Sheep Are we a nation of sheep blindly following a grinning pathfinder who is leading the herd into a jungle where bottomless pits are in abundance and trap the herd without any prior warning. It is the matter of having the courage to speak the truth otherwise even those who are eyeless can feel that this headless nation is being lead up the garden path on the basis of sectarianism, provincialism, waderaism creating a gulf between urban and rural population, and tribalism by the ruling coalition. Any senior citizen who has lived through the turbulent existence of this nation and not biased by the relentless false propaganda of the commercially oriented print and electronic media can discern the truth in what has been said above. This nation stood motionless when first truly democrat of Pakistan was crucified at alter of self serving Pakistani politicians. The silent majority is again standing motionless as the present democrat is being crucified on the same premise. No doubt in the eyes of the present rulers Pervaiz Musharraf has committed cardinal sins such as :  Devolution of power to grass root level,  Unfettered freedom of speech which is being so ruthlessly misused by the electronic and print media specially by an Urdu Daily which has forgotten its plight after directly attacking the sensibilities of the sects. Unfortunately a leader of the level of the person who brought the paper to its knees is no more available now even to that sect,  Bringing reasonable religious harmony which is now in tatters as evident from the happenings in Parachinar, Kohat, Dera Ismail Khan and other places in-cluding Karachi,  Putting the nation on the path of self sufficiency and Economic wellbeing. These are only a few of countless sins that defy enumeration. Does he not deserve to be punished? So go ahead and be done with it. BELIEVE IT ONE REAPS WHAT ONE SOWS. NEW GENERATION BE AWARE YOU ARE UP FOR A ROUGH TIME AHEAD.

An effective and successful manager manages his company with whatever resources he/she has, and manages to gear it towards an unprecedented growth and prosperity, utilizing all internal and external factors. Musharraf has proven himself to be the manager for Pakistan!

Multi-National Corporations (MNC’s) provide excellent job opportunities, bringing in the required capital, latest technology, developed human resources, management, quality and safety standards.

1. Dubai Ports World announced on 1 June 2006 that it will spend $10 billion to develop real estate, infrastructure and transport in Pakistan.

2. Emaar Properties announced on 31st May 2006 three real estates developments in the cities of Islamabad and Karachi. The projects, with a total investment of $2.4 billion, will include developing commercial and residential property.

3. Emaar Properties also signed an unprecedented $43 billion deal to develop two Island resorts – Bundal Island and Buddo Island – over the decade.

4. International Petroleum Investment Co., owned by the government of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, has received approval from Pakistan’s government to build a $5 billion Oil refinery at Hub in Baluchistan. The refinery, which will be Pakistan’s biggest, will have the capacity to process 300,000 barrels of oil a day.

5. 2006: The government is all set to establish an ‘Oil city’ with an investment of $40 billion at Gwadar Port to make it the biggest crude and refined oil storage base in the region. The government has allotted 12,500 acres of land in Gwadar. The Chinese Petroleum Chamber would come up with $12.5 billion investment plan for the project.

6. Canadian Oil & Gas Company signed a $200 million project with Pakistan that would generate 50,000 direct jobs in Sindh. It will explore, develop, produce and commercialize Coal Bed Methane (CBM) in Pakistan up-to 70,000 barrels a day for about 20 years.

9. The KESC has awarded the contract for Phase-I of the 220 MW Power plant to METKA, EPC contractor, a Greek Company of international repute, whereas Phase-II for 565 MW is under process, it has been reliably learnt. The EPC cost of the project is around $186 million including approximately 11 million dollars for chiller equipment.

AoA dear brother and sisters, I literally cried when sir Musharraf announced his resignation just for the sake of this thankless nation. As a teenager I saw the democracies of Benazir and Nawaz and when I grew up I saw the DEMOCRATIC DICTATOR SHIP of sir Musharraf, and believe me, sir Musharraf was the more democratic than these so called champions of democracy. about 2 months have been passed and our hero sir Musharraf is still in the country and have refused to leave the PAKISTAN unlike so called champions of democracy and leader of 16 caror awam. I am sure and have complete faith on Allah that one day this thankless nation would ask him to come back and lead us INSHALLAH.

Pakistan Zindabad, Pervaiz Musharraf Zindabad!!!!!

An educated, presentable, and nationalistic middle class Pakistani citizen cannot lead Pakistan. Our ‘democracy’ won’t allow it. Unless, of course, he comes through a military coup like President Pervez Musharraf did. As a Pakistani citizen, I will vote anytime for a Pakistani leader who does not own a house and a list of bank accounts abroad. These days, only President Musharraf fits the bill. For all his real and imaginary sins - and embroiled in what is supposed to be his toughest moment in power - he continues to outshine those feudal lords, wealthy industrialists and family-run political parties that want to see him out.

Personality cults are the lowest and the most primitive forms of governance. But when our twisted democracy thrusts on us civilian personality cults and civilian dictators who prefer a 19-year-old to giving a chance to other ordinary Pakistanis, then forgive me if - as a young Pakistani citizen - I believe that Mr. Musharraf, with his failings and strengths, is a leader that I admire, even if I disagree with a couple of his policies, which is my democratic right.

If President Musharraf blundered with the NRO under American pressure, why did our intelligentsia join in the sin by encouraging Pakistanis to vote for and recycle leaders who have been tested, tried and discredited? If they can get a chance at the top, with their foreign houses, bank accounts and bad accents, what is so wrong in giving a chance to someone with at least more credentials than just wealth and lineage?

Pakistanis watching today Mr. Aitzaz Ahsan’s ‘Long March’ should remember that this is exactly what we don’t want to see in 21st century Pakistan. The last time the world saw a great long march was in China in the last century. The world has gotten over long marches. No one uses this language or these tactics anymore. The United States and United Kingdom went to war despite history’s biggest anti-war rallies in London and Washington. George Bush became a president on a razor thin margin. But we don’t see their lawyers, judges, and ex-servicemen making a joke out of their homeland before the whole world.

And the world is watching the gross failures of leadership in Pakistan. Those who are not amused are disgusted. In Saudi Arabia, an Arab reporter showed his frustration at Pakistani affairs by asking the visiting Pakistani prime minister why his country can’t have stability like India does. Mr. Yousaf Raza Gilani, our Prime Minister, replied with a line befitting a party worker and not the chief executive of a nation. He said it’s because military interventions aborted democracy many times in Pakistan and that his party founder and his daughter paid with their lives for democracy.

No Mr. Prime Minister. If there is instability in Pakistan, it is mainly because of the substandard quality of leadership that politicians have been giving us so far. Those who practice politics here do it with a ‘hooliganistic mindset’ that leaves no room for stability. The past three months since the general election are a telling story of leadership failure, and they strengthen the case of hawks who say Pakistan is ripe for a complete change not just in faces but in its entire political system.

President Musharraf is not more important than Pakistan. The unnatural and manufactured crisis over his presidency is a crime against Pakistan’s interests, where energies are being wasted on a nonissue. And what a lawyers’ movement we have. Those supporting it in good faith should know that the politician leading your movement helped Benazir Bhutto exploit the movement to negotiate a better NRO deal. The movement was long hijacked by vested political interest. No one in his right mind sees any victory for the rule of law. If anyone wins in the end, it will be this shallow and corrupt political system.

In our suicidal politics, even military secrets are not sacred anymore. We have taken freedom of expression to dizzying heights. Those who are encouraging retired military personnel to come out on television and ridicule their former bosses are playing with fire and are setting the stage for politicizing the Pakistani military, which will prove disastrous for our country.

These days, President Musharraf, an upright soldier of Pakistan who gave his best, is under attack from all sides. With a stroke of a pen, he gave birth to Pakistan’s vibrant television news business. Today, when he needs support, he doesn’t even have people on his payroll – like dictators normally do - who could get his side of the story out. He never did. If that was his style, independent news channels wouldn’t be out there today without kickbacks paid into some offshore company account.

Pakistan is a resilient nation and it will survive with or without all those who are in power in Islamabad today, including the president. But here’s something that all Pakistanis should remember: Pakistan can live with an imperfect political system, but not a failed one. It just is not in our interest. And patriotic, nationalist Pakistanis will not let their nation go down. Period.
